Healthcare · ICRA renovations

Infection control doesn’t allow gaps. Neither does a seamless coat.

Occupied hospital and facility renovations have to contain construction dust and contaminants — regardless of cost. First Layer sprays Peeltex into one continuous, sealed barrier over the surfaces you’re protecting, then peels it off clean at handover.

Why it matters

Renovate an occupied building without letting the dust out.

Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) is mandated across healthcare construction. When a wing gets upgraded while patients are down the hall, every containment gap is a compliance and safety risk — and the finished surfaces you’re keeping still have to be protected from the work.

The mandate

Containment isn’t optional

Dust and debris from construction can’t reach occupied space. Protection is a required line item, not a cost-saving trade-off.

The gap

Taped board has seams

Porous board seams and lifting tape trap debris and can’t truly seal a floor or surface — exactly what infection control can’t allow.

The surfaces

Finishes stay in place

Floors, cabinets and casework often stay through the reno. They need a barrier that protects them and peels away without residue.

The solution

One seamless barrier. Everything sealed. Nothing left behind.

We spray Peeltex into a continuous, zero-residue film that encapsulates the surfaces staying in the space — sealing them off from the work and peeling away clean when the job is done.

Floors

Sealed, seamless

Terrazzo, tile, LVT and concrete protected end-to-end — no taped seams, no trip lip.

Cabinets & casework

Encapsulated

Existing medical cabinets and countertops wrapped so no dust settles inside or on the finish.

Walls & doors

Coated & peelable

Finished walls, frames and doors shielded from scuffs, overspray and debris.

Elevators & fixtures

Kept clean

Cabs, buttons and fixtures protected while equipment and materials move through.

Seamless vs. taped board

A continuous seal board can’t match.

Board is laid in strips and taped. Peeltex goes down as one bonded film — no seams to trap debris, no edges to trip on — then lifts off in a single sheet, residue-free.

⚠ Taped board
  • Porous seams trap debris
  • Tape lifts & ghosts on finishes
  • Edges are trip hazards
✓ First Layer coat
  • Continuous, sealed surface
  • Zero residue on removal
  • No seams, no lip to trip on
How it works

Four steps, built for an occupied building.

Step 01

Assess & document

We survey and document existing conditions, then lay a free test panel on your actual substrate to prove clean adhesion and removal.

Step 02

Spray

Peeltex is applied as a continuous film over floors, casework and finishes — low-VOC*, minimal disruption to the space.

Step 03

Protect

The sealed barrier holds through every trade and every phase of the renovation.

Step 04

Peel & hand over

At completion it peels off in one sheet, residue-free — the protected surface revealed untouched.

Healthcare FAQ

What facilities teams ask.

Does it support our ICRA containment plan?
Peeltex is applied as a continuous, sealed film with no porous seams, which complements ICRA containment on the surfaces it covers. We’ll coordinate with your infection-control and GC team on the plan for your specific job.*
Will it damage finished floors, terrazzo or casework?
No — it bonds to the film, not your finish, and lifts away clean. Before any job we lay a free test panel on your actual surface so you see adhesion and removal first-hand.*
Can you protect surfaces that stay in place during the reno?
Yes. We encapsulate floors, cabinets, countertops, walls, doors and fixtures that remain in the space so dust and debris never reach them.
Does it leave residue when removed?
It’s designed to peel off in one sheet with zero residue, even after months in place.*
Is it low-odor and low-VOC for occupied spaces?
Peeltex is positioned as a 0% VOC coating. We’ll provide the manufacturer technical data sheet for your spec and safety review.*
