Our team has worked across every phase of construction — from ground-up new builds to occupied building restorations — and we saw the same problem on every job: surface protection was always an afterthought. GCs hand it off to a laborer or a trade. Ram board gets laid, Masonite gets thrown down, paper gets taped to a floor. It shifts. It tears. Debris migrates underneath. And when damage shows up at punch list, nobody owns it.

First Layer exists to fix that.

Every project starts with a Surface Condition Analysis. We assess the surface type, moisture condition, traffic load, and equipment requirements before anything goes down. Clients provide surface specifications — existing finishes, freshly poured concrete, epoxy, topcoat — so we can engineer the right protection package for those exact conditions.

We use top-of-market products. Our premium system combines PeelTex® peelable coating with the Skudo board protection system — encapsulating the surface, eliminating debris migration, and providing rigid impact protection engineered for the phase of work. For projects where the full system isn't required, PeelTex® alone delivers a clean, documented, residue-free protection layer that outperforms anything a crew is going to lay down by hand.
